Ponant has appointed Cecilia Abert as UK brand ambassador to coordinate the line’s marketing strategy.
Abert was previously managing director for Hurtigruten after arriving from Regent Seven Seas where she was marketing director.
Abert resigned after six months at Hurtigruten, citing differences over the strategic direction of the company in 2015.
In her new role, Abert will also set up partnerships outside the cruise sector.
Stephen Winter, Ponant’s international sales director, said Abert would be able to offer “incredible insights and experience” to help the line strengthen its position as the “luxury expedition leader in the UK and Irish markets”.
Abert said it was the “perfect time” to join Ponant with seven small ships set to join the fleet in the next three years.
Blue Eye, the world’s first multisensory underwater lounge, will launch on new ship Le Lapérouse later this year.
Abert started her role as UK brand ambassador at Ponant last month.
