Plans for Advantage and the Association of Independent Tour Operators to work more closely together have been shelved.
AITO executive director Kate Kenward said the two groups have held talks following John McEwan’s speech at the AITO conference in November, when he urged more members to consider working with the consortium’s members.
However, Advantage and AITO are to abandon plans for the time being as AITO members already have their own Specialist Travel Agents group to work with.
Kenward added: “We’ve looked at the possibilities. We’ve got out AITO Specialist Travel Agents who are very loyal and who we deal with in a certain way and Advantage members have their own way (of working).”
