Cunard has been named best cruiseline for January in a customer survey by online cruise travel agency cruise.co.uk.
Lesser-known premium cruiseline Oceania Cruises and Royal Caribbean International also topped the poll by the agency, which asked more than 10,000 website users to review cruise operators and ships in eight different categories on a one to five star rating. Each reviewer received a copy of Berlitz’ guide to cruising.
For January, Cunard scored an average of 4.36 out of five for best cruiseline, while Oceania Cruises scooped three of the categories with its ship Insignia winning 4.55 for best ship, 4.77 for best food and 4.86 for best service.
Royal Caribbean International’s Independence of the Seas topped the ratings for best entertainment with 4.37 and for best for families with 4.28. Star Princes came top for best shore excursion with 4.22.
The site had more than 2.5 million visitors last year, and has more than 10,000 reviews added every month.
Managing director cruise.co.uk Seamus Conlon said: “The cruise passenger ratings are a continually changing guide of what’s good and bad in cruise; every time a review is logged the results can change.
“The current results show that brands like Cunard and Royal Caribbean are being rated consistently high in all categories which will help potential cruisers researching which cruiseline to go with.”
