BA to screen its Facebook ‘Magic Videos’ on new in-flight channel

Seven short films featuring consumers being surprised after writing in to British Airways with special requests are to be screened on a new in-flight channel.

They were posted on the airline’s Facebook page and have been some of the most popular videos BA has ever released, attracting millions of views from all over the world.

The stories cover destinations such as Cyprus, Las Vegas, Hong Kong and Australia.

Celebrities including Chris Froome, X-Factor stars Jack and Joel and performers from the musical Priscilla Queen of the Dessert were enlisted to help produce the videos.

The airline also received support from partners including Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, Lamborghini, Xbox and Rangers football club.

The most popular video to date has been the story of 47-year-old Joe Dowd, whose life changed overnight after suffering a brain injury.

The video sees how the previously a high-flying business traveller, takes his first steps back on an aircraft as he makes an emotional journey to see his family in Ireland.

BA brand and customer experience director Carolina Martinoli said: “There are magic moments that happen all over the world on flights and in airports as people take special journeys, and we’ve loved being part of helping create special memories for some very deserving customers.”
