Angela Sloan to leave Scenic for Cruise 118

Head of sales Angela Sloan is to leave Scenic for Cruise 118 parent World Travel Holdings.

Sloan will become head of product and commercial at the cruise agency, which promoted Alison Earnshaw from product and commercial director to managing director in March.

Earnshaw’s promotion followed the departure of co-founder James Cole, who set up the firm in 2008.

Sloan, who has held senior sales positions at Gold Medal and Airtours, will join  World Travel Holdings on May 21.

She will be responsible for continuing to develop the business’ supplier relationships and product strategy to support ambitious growth plans.  The existing WTH UK product and commercial team will report to Angela.

Sloan said: “I’m excited to be joining the World Travel Holdings team, having admired the business for some time from afar I’m thrilled and privileged to have the opportunity to be part of it and I’m looking forward to working with the team to continue to drive business from strength to strength and to deliver even more for our supplier partners.”

Earnshaw added: “We are delighted to have Angela’s wealth of travel industry, negotiation and relationship management experience supplement our excellent existing team, and look forward to working together to deliver on our exciting plans.”

Scenic has promoted Dawn Quinn to head of UK trade sales following Sloan’s departure. She starts her new role immediately.

Scenic’s managing director Colin Downing said: “Dawn played a very pivotal role last year in helping our UK business achieve record sales growth by quite some margin. With continued great trade support, 2018 has got off to a cracking start with a record double digit growth first quarter already delivered. I’m pleased to recognise the valuable contribution Dawn has made to our business. It’s a very well deserved promotion and Dawn is the right person to take the UK trade team forward.”

He added: “Three factors are driving our business – a close and valued working relationship with our brilliant trade partners, our strong high performance UK team and lots of new exciting product – our second Eclipse luxury ocean expedition yacht, our new luxury North American and Asia land tour products, our new small private yacht cruises down the Dalmatian Coast, and of course a new and updated programme of market leading river cruises.”

On Sloan’s departure, Downing added: “On a personal note I’m sorry she is leaving us but can understand as it’s a great opportunity for her and we wish her every success.”
