Celestyal Cruises has appointed Chris Theophilides as the line’s new chief executive.
Theophilides has held the role of vice president of strategy and business development for the line since 2014.
He has been working in the cruise industry since 2006.
In January last year, Theophilides was also appointed chief operating officer, supporting current chief executive Kyriakos Anastassiadis in a range of activities.
Anastassiadis, who will step down on June 30, has been credited for contributing to the company’s “strategic re-positioning”, as well as to the development and strengthening of the Celestyal Cruises brand internationally.
Celestyal thanked Anastassiadis for his “contribution” to the development of the line.
Anastassiadis has also held the position of Clia Europe chairman since 2016.
In 1995, Theophilides earned a bachelor of arts degree in economics from Rutgers University, New Jersey, US.
From 1998 to 2006, he served as senior manager, corporate finance at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), where he qualified as a certified public accountant.
