Royal Caribbean calls on Generation Z to help shape family offering

Royal Caribbean International has appointed a panel filled with Generation Z children to shape its family holiday proposition.

The panel called Little Extraordinaires will act as consultants on future Royal Caribbean ships, offering their feedback to Royal Caribbean International’s president and chief executive Michael Bayley.

The six-strong crew includes twins, an 11-year-old boy from Southampton and the daughter of globe trotting Instagram-family ‘Mini Travellers’.

New research by the line and generational guru Dr Paul Redmond shows nearly 70% of parents consult their children before booking a holiday.

And around 95% of parents prioritise their children’s happiness over their own.

Redmond, director of student experience and enhancement at University of Liverpool, said: “For the travel industry, Generation Z is an incredibly important cohort.

“Not only do they exert a powerful influence on their Generation X parents, who are extremely tuned into their well-being and personal development, but they are a generation that care more for experiences than possessions.”

On The Little Extraordinaires, Ben Bouldin, the line’s associate vice president and managing director of UK and Ireland, said: “The Little Extraordinaires will be given the chance to provide feedback directly to our most senior team.

“We truly value their comments and you never know where the next big idea will come from.”
