Helen Caron has been promoted to Tui Group hotel purchasing director following the departure of Garry Wilson to head easyJet Holidays after 21 years with the business.
She will be responsible for leading Tui Group’s commercial relationships with overseas third party hotel partners.
The appointment of a new cruise and distribution director for Tui UK and Ireland will be confirmed shortly following Caron’s elevation.
She will take up her new role, including a position on the group tourism board with immediate effect, reporting to Tui northern region CEO David Burling.
Caron joined Tui UK and Ireland in September 2015 as managing director of Thomson Cruises and took on the additional responsibility of distribution in July 2016.
She has led the modernisation of the cruise business, bringing in Discovery, Discovery 2 and Marella Explorer, into service – together with the rebrand from Thomson Cruises to Marella Cruises.
Caron has also overseen the rebrand from Thomson to Tui across all distribution channels including more than 600 agency branches.
Her other roles have included director of Ireland, commercial and trading director for distribution, and head of integration for the distribution division when the Thomson and First Choice businesses merged.
Burling said: “I am delighted that Helen Caron will take on the role as group hotel purchasing director.
“Helen brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role and has delivered excellent results since she joined and took responsibility of the Tui UK & Ireland cruise and distribution channels in 2016.”
