First Class Holidays reports 30% VIA Rail sales boost

First Class Holidays is claiming 30% year-on-year sales increase with VIA Rail, as the only official UK sales agent for all Canadian rail journeys with the train operator.

Since being appointed as general sales agent in 2002 First Class Holidays has booked more than 40,000 passengers to travel in Canada using its vast rail network.

VIA Rail’s flagship service, The Canadian, links Toronto and Vancouver as one of the longest rail journeys in the world, taking four days to complete.

First Class Holidays managing director Daniel Gathercole said: “We have been working as the general sales agent for VIA Rail for over 15 years and have seen a huge increase in passengers travelling by rail in Canada, it’s an easy and exciting way to navigate the country.”

VIA Rail international and domestic sales senior manager Josephine Wasch added: “We have been working with First Class Holidays for over 15 years and are delighted to see the sales increase.

“Travellers are really embracing the pleasure of seeing Canada by rail, it’s such a popular way to travel.”

A 14-day trans-Canada trip including rail to travel across the country leads in at £3,492 per person.
