Regent Seven Seas Cruises is to open sales for its latest ship earlier than planned due to interest in the new vessel.
The line announced that Seven Seas Splendor’s inaugural 2020 European summer itineraries will go on sale from July 12, as a keel-laying ceremony took place at Italy’s Fincantieri shipyard.
The itineraries had been due to go on sale in August.
At Thursday’s ceremony, two of the 210 blocks that will make up the ship were lifted into dry dock, officially marking the start of the building process for a vessel which will be Regent’s fifth when it enters service.
Jason Montague, president and chief executive officer of Regent Seven Seas, said: “In our pursuit to exceed guest expectations, we are creating a work of art, from bow to stern.
“Wherever you turn on Seven Seas Splendor, you will be surrounded by elegance, comfort and hospitality.”
Montague and Fincantieri shipyard director Giovanni Stecconi placed three coins onto the keel of the ship to commemorate the occasion.
As part of shipbuilding tradition, the coins will remain embedded within the structure throughout its time in service.
The line also provided a first look at two suites on the 55,000-gross ton ship at the event in Ancona.
