Karen Dempsey will join Travel Weekly and the TWgroup as group editor on May 5.
Dempsey’s experience includes editorship of the Times Education Supplement, Recruiter magazine and Travel Weekly’s sister title Personnel Today, where she led her team to several major publishing industry awards.
Her career has spanned print, online and broadcasting – from PR Week and Marketing magazines to day editor for a daily live breakfast show on BSkyB’s business channel.
As TWgroup editor, Dempsey will take responsibility for all editorial content across Travel Weekly, Travolution and Gazetteers.
Publishing director Roger Williams said: “I’ve no doubt Karen will bring to the TWgroup a wealth of experience, new ideas and creative flair. She is immensely excited to be joining the group, building on its success and she is looking forward to interacting with the industry as soon as possible.”
Dempsey will replace Penny Wilson, who announced her early retirement three weeks ago.
