Thomas Cook ‘begins search’ for new chairman

Thomas Cook has hired a boardroom head hunting company to find a successor to chairman Frank Meysman, according to reports.

Sky News reported that Meysman is under no pressure to step down and could remain in place until 2020 but that Cook has begun “testing the water” with a process to recruit and new chairman.

It was claimed the travel giant has hired Egon Zehnder International, a boardroom headhunter, to identify possible candidates for the role.

Meysman was appointed in December 2011 and steered the firm through a troubled financial period and helped it to recover it reputation following the death of two children on holiday in Corfu.

Quoting an unnamed source, Sky News said existing board members as well as outsiders are being considered.

Cook has so far declined to comment, according to Sky News.
