I was amused to read your front-page story, (Travel Weekly October 18) which said our ‘overseas conference due to take place in Corfu in November, which it is thought would have cost around £400,000, has also been axed’.
This has certainly come as something of a surprise to Lunn Poly’s entire senior management team which recently returned from our successful conference in…yes, you’ve got it, Corfu!
As to the speculation of the event costing £400,000 I am grateful indeed that Travel Weekly is not in charge of our budget – either for Corfu or for the special event we have lined up for around 1,000 Lunn Poly managers in spring.

Editor’s note: Fair point, and apologies if that was wrong. We were given the information late after we had spoken to you and were convinced it was accurate. The rest of the story about blocking expenditure is fair.
