New Crystal Cruises expedition yacht goes on sale

Bookings for Crystal Cruises’ purpose-built polar-class vessel Crystal Endeavor have opened the day after the keel was laid in Germany.

The keel-laying ceremony at MV Werften’s Stralsund shipyard was attended by the Crystal president and chief executive Tom Wolber, German chancellor Angela Merkel and Peter Fetten, the chief executive and president of ship yard company MV Werften.

Hundreds of MV Werften team members watched on as the 400-ton section was lowered onto the keel blocks after the traditional coins had been put into place on Tuesday (August 21).

Crystal unveiled the itineraries for the 200-passenger Crystal Endeavor’s inaugural season on July 31.

The voyages, spanning from August 2020 to January 2021, last between 12 and 22 days.

Crystal Endeavor’s voyages will visit Japan, Russian Far East, Indonesia, Borneo, the Philippines, New Zealand, Australia and Antarctica.

The ship will sail a series of charters and special event voyages before it begins its inaugural season in August 2020.

Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, executive chairman and chief executive of Genting Hong Kong, Crystal’s parent company, said: “We are delighted with the success and progress of the Crystal fleet and continue to share the company’s vision for expanding the choices for travellers around the world.

“Crystal Endeavor is a ship like no other and will take travellers on journeys unlike any they’ve ever experienced.”
