Flights face delays and cancellations due to thunderstorms

A warning of weather-related flight disruption was issued this morning by easyJet.

The UK budget carrier said that thunderstorms were affecting large areas of southern and central Europe.

“This may lead to delays and cancellations across our European network due to weather conditions being below safe limits and congestion in the air space causing air traffic control restrictions,” the airline added.

“Even if you are not flying through the affected area, there might be knock-on delays due to previous flights operated by your plane.”

EasyJet said: “We’re closely monitoring the weather situation and are working hard to maintain all of our flights.

“Although outside of our control, we’re very sorry for any inconvenience.”

Travellers were advised to check the airline’s flight tracker on its website for updated information.
