A travel agency is crediting its service and knowledge for bagging a £53,000 sale for a couple’s holiday in the Maldives.
Easytravel in Malvern, Worcestershire, booked a 13-night twin-centre stay in the Maldives in February 2019, including business-class British Airways flights and sea plane transfers with Travel 2’s Simply Luxury brand.
The booking includes six nights in a water villa with a pool on the island of Milaidhoo, followed by six nights in a water retreat at the five-star Soneva Jani resort on Medhufaru.
Consultant Ann Carter spent more than six hours on the booking to ensure the couple, who are regulars at the high street agency, were happy.
Agency owner Rachel Williams said: “We do a lot of bookings worth £10,000 to £20,000, and last year this couple did a £29,000 booking to Barbados.
“We work as a team. It’s all about personal service and giving clients what they want. But we are always honest and use our knowledge to say if we think the properties are right for them.
“With this booking, there were a lot of emails back and forth, and the properties changed two or three times.
“Ann is a very good agent and makes sure she dots all the i’s and crosses all the t’s. I appreciate all the work she does.”
All commission earnings are “put back into the business”, although agents receive annual bonus payments.
Travel 2 key account manager Andy Harris delivered flowers and a bottle of gin, Ann’s favourite tipple, as a thank you.
“This booking stood out because it was for only two people, and from an agency we don’t normally get this size booking from,” he said.
“The past few months have not been the best for the industry because of the World Cup and the hot weather, so a booking like this is a breath of fresh air.”
