Global expands business development team

The Global Travel Group sales and business development team is being re-organised to boost face-to-face contact with member agencies.

The country was previously divided into north and south but will be split into three regions – north, central and south – from September 24.

Two new sales and business development managers have been recruited – Amanda Schofield in the newly-formed central region and Sarah Ryan for the south.

They will report to Darren Bond, who will continue to cover the north in his new role as head of sales and business development.

Schofield was most recently business development manager for Bedsonline following roles at Attraction World, Innstant Travel and Travelcube.

Ryan joins from Mauritian resort owner Veranda Leisure and Hospitality, where she was sales and marketing account executive.

Sixteen new agent members have joined the consortium since April – with seven of these being start-up businesses new to the industry.

Commercial director Cherie Richards said: “Having staff out on the road is the very best way to get our message out and support members, no matter what size their agency.

“Being able to add a new central area into the mix means our development team each have a smaller patch to cover and can support agents with the development of their business more frequently.

“Members benefit from more face-to-face contact since it means we can keep them updated on promotions, answer any queries and help them grow their business. We want our members to know they have someone to turn to who understands and appreciates their business.”

She added: ““The new structure also allows us to acknowledge the significant role Darren has played at Global over the past eight years.

“Maximising the phenomenal talent within the business has always been key to Global and I am looking forward to working with him closely over the coming months to deliver even more for our agent members.”
