Travel and tourism recognised in Queen’s Birthday Honours list

Eight people from the UK travel and tourism industry have been recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.

Hastings Hotels chairman Dr William George Hastings, CBE, has been knighted for his services to the industry and community in Northern Ireland.

Flybe chairman and chief executive James French, and former Civil Aviation Authority director of safety regulation Michael John Bell, both receive CBEs.

BAA director of capital projects Andrew Wolstenholme and Remembrance Travel head Colonel Piers Storie-Pugh, MBE, receive OBEs.

Belfast International airport information desk worker Annie Maxwell, and South of Scotland visitor services regional manager Sheila Campbell, have been awarded MBEs, as has Caroline Anderson for services to the tourism industry in the Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley.
