Dnata job consultations ‘will not impact Gold Medal and Travel 2’

Job consultations announced at dnata’s Chester office are about optimising roles and will not impact Gold Medal or Travel 2, UK boss John Bevan has said.

Dnata put around 50 staff working in finance, sales and operations roles under consultation on Thursday.

Bevan, dnata B2B chief executive for Europe, said these service departments were currently replicated across different office locations as a result of the company acquiring a number of businesses.

Dnata employs 1,600 staff in the UK and has offices in Preston and Glasgow.

As well as owning trade brands Gold Medal and Travel 2, it owns Travel Republic, Travelbag, Emirates Holidays and the Global Travel Group consortium among others.

Bevan said: “This is about the need to rationalise and it’s around efficiency.

“There is an opportunity where some service parts of the business, some of those roles can be brought into one team.

“We have acquired many businesses over the years and now as the structure of the organisation has changed we are looking for synergies.

“We are still growing both in our B2B and B2C brands. We had a really good summer which is encouraging.

“This is nothing to do with Gold Medal and Travel 2. They are doing very well and on target. Our investment in those brands is heavier now than it was. Lisa McAuley and her team are doing an amazing job.”

He added: “Dnata cares immensely about staff. This is not done light-heartedly. If I could, I would keep everyone.

“But we have people doing the same functions in different places.”
