Caribbean Princess becomes first ship to offer all guests OceanMedallion technology

Princess Cruises ship Caribbean Princess is the first in the line’s fleet to offer every passenger onboard access to OceanMedallion technology.

The wearable technology has been trialled since last year and experienced glitches in the build-up to its full roll out on a Princess Cruises ship.

OceanMedallion is the same size as a 10p piece, is fully automated and has no on-off switch.

Princess passengers wearing OceanMedallion can locate friends, access their stateroom and experience enhanced interaction with staff and crew members.

Caribbean Princess, which is based in the Caribbean all-year round, now also features MedallionNet, which gives passengers faster internet streaming speeds.

Jan Swartz, Princess Cruises’ president, said: “Having 100% of our guests using OceanMedallion on every sailing of Caribbean Princess is a significant milestone that we are celebrating on the path to fleet-wide implementation.

“Our guests tells us that OceanMedallion is turning an already extraordinary experience on Princess Cruises into an even more spectacular holiday, making sailing on Caribbean Princess the ultimate Caribbean cruise.”

OceanMedallion was first unveiled by Carnival Corporation chief executive Arnold Donald in 2017.

It will continue as a part of a phased fleet-wide activation plan.
