Pre-registration opens for World Travel Market 2009

World Travel Market is looking to build on the success of last year’s event as it celebrates its 30th anniversary.

WTM first opened its doors to the global travel and tourism industry back in 1980 – making 2009 its 30th year. Since its launch, WTM has outgrown both Olympia (1980-1991) and Earl’s Court (1992-2001) and is now hosted at ExCeL in London.

Over the past 29 years, almost one million participants have passed through the WTM doors, with the event playing host to almost half a million exhibitors.

Last year saw WTM record its highest attendance figures, with almost 50,000 people participating in the event, an increase of 4% on 2007 figures. Furthermore, more than 100 new exhibitors took part in 2008, taking the total number to 5,615 – an increase of 4% on 2007.

WTM chairwoman Fiona Jeffery said: “World Travel Market hopes WTM 2009 will top last year’s attendance figures, so as many people from the industry as possible can help us celebrate the landmark of our 30th anniversary.

“This year’s WTM is set to be the best ever, so pre-register now to be a part of the industry’s premier event of 2009.”

Pre-registration is free to all travel and tourism professionals.
