Meet our Mystery Shopper star for May 2009

Travel agent Melanie Stephens has never been so popular.

The consultant from The Co-operative Travel in Lowestoft won the use of a Porsche Boxster S for a month after achieving the highest Mystery Shopper score in May, and has had people queueing up to be taken out for a spin.

“I initially thought ‘a car is a car’, but I’ve totally changed my mind,” said Melanie, after receiving the Porsche. “So far I’ve taken 13 people out. My husband loves it.”

Mystery Shopper visited the agency looking for a golf holiday to Portugal. She wrote about Melanie: “The agent was very welcoming and she genuinely seemed happy to help me.” She added: “The service was attentive to my needs; therefore a suitable recommendation was made.”

Scoring 93%, including full marks for customer service, Melanie was the deserving winner of the use of the Porsche, which is provided by Elite Island Resorts. The car was delivered to the shop by Elite training manager Graham Hawkins.

“I felt like a famous person when Graham delivered the car,” she said. “There was a crowd of people in the street gathering around to watch. When I first started the car I stalled it, but haven’t done since!”

Hawkins said: “Mel did a fantastic job with the Mystery Shopper, especially on such a competitive high street. On this occasion I managed to personally deliver the Porsche to Mel.

I have to say, she was such a knowledgeable, delightful person with great enthusiasm and an enchanting smile, it was no wonder that she won Mystery Shopper.

“It was a pleasure to award the Porsche to Mel, and after meeting her, it really proves how valuable the travel agent can be in securing sales in the current trading climate.”
