Jetsave features winter rail tours

WINTER rail tours linking the US with Canada and themed itineraries in Texas are some of the new features of Jetsave’s North America escorted touring programme for 2000.

Product director Alberto Boeri said: “Coach touring in the US has changed dramatically from the standard 15-day itinerary of 15 or 20 years ago. Clients can still book the classic coach tour but there are now also many combinations to choose from. These include holidays taking in rail journeys, as well as rail, coach and cruise combinations, and add-on ground tours.

“Winter is also becoming a popular time to take a coach tour or a rail journey. We are offering both east and west rail-inclusive itineraries something that was unheard of a few years ago.”

Examples of new tours include a 15-day High Chapparral escorted coach holiday from £978 which starts in Los Angeles and finishes in Dallas. The same start and finish points are reversed for a 10-day Texas Rangers and New Orleans tour from £998.

Other newcomers are a Route 66 itinerary from Chicago to Los Angeles, from £1,255 for 17 days; and a Coast Sunlight Tour from Vancouver in Canada through Oregon to San Diego, from £1,159 for 16 days including travel by rail.

Jetsave’s Winter Rail Trail is almost exclusively by train with options in both the east and west from £799 for 12 days. All packages include transatlantic flights, accommodation and sightseeing. New pre-bookable excursions include hot-air ballooning over New Mexico for £115 per person, dinner jazz cruise in New Orleans for £24 and helicopter flights over New York and Niagara for £29.
