Top industry bosses were put under the spotlight by free national newspaper the Metro today about their plans for greener travel as part of Green Britain Day.
The Metro devoted four pages of its special green edition to environmentally-friendly travel and tourism, highlighting the importance of the issue to the UK public.
Eight leading industry figures, including TUI Travel UK managing director Dermot Blastland, Thomas Cook UK and Ireland chief executive mainstream travel Pete Constanti, ABTA head of business development and consumer affairs Keith Richards, and British Airways head of environment Jonathon Counsell, were asked: Can travel ever be green? And what are you doing to be greener?
The response from the travel chiefs was a resounding “yes”, and they pointed out that the industry was getting greener all the time.
According to the latest circulation figures, 1.35 million copies of Metro are given away every day. Metro is distributed in London, Scotland, East Midlands, Bristol, Newcastle, Leeds, Birmingham and Manchester.
