Travel 2 partners with operators in the touring sector

Travel 2 has partnered with escorted tour specialist Cosmos, its sister brand Avalon Waterways, and youth brand Contiki as it looks to extend its reach in the touring sector.

The deals were announced at Association of Touring and Adventure Suppliers (ATAS) Conference in Birmingham on Monday, October 22.

Mark Henderson, senior product and commercial manager – specialist product, at the trade-only operator, said: “Agents have reacted really positively to the efforts we have made in the touring market over the last 12 months and I am sure they will welcome the fact we are working with these three much-loved tour brands.

“Cosmos has an excellent reputation and thanks to its heritage is one of few names that consumers actively ask for in store. Adding Avalon Waterways will further enhance our river cruise coverage, which is an area that is becoming increasingly popular and seeing some real innovation. Contiki Holidays opens up new possibilities. We see real potential for changing shopping habits in the 18-35 demographic.”

The signing means Travel 2 now partners with 80 brands across the touring sector, including escorted and independent tours, rail, self-drives and non-ocean cruising. It released its latest Incredible Journeys and Touring brochure, with 40 new tours, last month.

“We are in discussions with a few more potential partners but believe we have the market pretty well covered,” added Henderson. “The aim of our Incredible Journeys and Touring brochure was to change the perception of what a tour is. It is no longer about being on a coach with 48 people – clients want to tailor their experience and we want to help agents create the perfect holiday.”
