Comment: Take a positive approach

In last week’s magazine, I spoke about the importance of face-to-face events, including the Association of Touring & Adventure Suppliers Conference in Birmingham, which I had the privilege of moderating in its second year.

A week on, I am still on a high from the amazing event and the efforts the supplier members made to really showcase their fantastic products.

I am also buoyed by the positivity and energy that was tangible from the hundreds of agents who attended and left inspired to drive more lucrative sales from the sector. Find out more in our 11-page special.

After a challenging summer and with uncertainty ahead, it would be easy to feel apprehensive about the coming winter season and the peak selling period, which is now just a couple of months away. But in an industry that constantly looks to inspire and enthuse, the importance of a positive approach can’t be underestimated.

This week we also report on the tie-up between breakfast TV legend Mr Motivator and Typically Holidays, and after his visit to our office last week I can certainly vouch for the positivity he exudes!

The final reason I’m feeling upbeat is the publication of the seventh annual edition of our careers-focused Take Off in Travel, which once again features a host of amazing young talent who show our industry is in safe hands.

We’ll be officially unveiling Take Off at a special Business Breakfast in London on November 12, when we’ll be discussing the topic of training, development and staff retention in the industry.

There are a few spaces left, and you can register your interest here. See you there!
