EasyCruise sold to Hellenic Seaways

EasyCruise and its one ship, the 574-passenger EasyCruise Life, have been sold to Greek ferry company Hellenic Seaways, which operates 32 fast ferries in Greece.

At the same time, easyCruise founder and serial entrepreneur Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou has invested, via easyGroup, €9 million in Sea Star Capital, Hellenic’s largest shareholder.

Sales and marketing director UK and US Paul Ellerby said Haji-Ioannou has always used different shareholding structures to finance the development of the easy brand and that it is “business as usual” for easyCruise’s partners and customers.

Under the terms of the deal, Hellenic will continue to use the easyCruise brand.

Ellerby said the UK office is “busy promoting 2010, so nothing has changed”.
