Operator halts family sales to hotel following toddler’s death

A tour operator has stopped selling the Chia Laguna Resort in Sardinia to families after an 18-month-old British child died after falling 10ft from a balcony last week.

Classic Collection managing director Nick Munday said the operator is continuing to offer the resort for adult-only bookings. However, it has withdrawn the property from the family market following the death of Brad Kremer last Saturday.

Munday said: “We don’t think there’s a problem but it is better to do this until we’ve inspected the balcony.”

He will revise the decision following an inspection of the balcony by either ABTA health and safety inspectors or one of his own members of staff.
