New cruise company Cruise and Maritime Voyages (CMV) has released full details of its inaugural programme.
Following its launch last week, the cruiseline will offer voyages from the UK to the Caribbean, the Amazon and Orinoco, Venezuela, as well as European destinations from January 2 2010.
Prices in the 2010 programme, on sale on September 1, start from £849 per person cruise only for a 14-night cruise to the Norwegian fjords in March and a 14-night Easter cruise to the Canary Islands. The six-week voyage up the Amazon and Orinoco rivers, departing February 1, costs from £1,999 per person cruise only.
Ocean Countess’s maiden voyage for CMV will be a two-night weekend break on April 18 from Tilbury to Amsterdam, returning to Hull. Prices start from £149 per person cruise only.
Ocean Countess will also be sailing from Newcastle, Leith (Edinburgh), Greenock, Liverpool, and Plymouth. CMV will be offering two 11-night voyages to Spain, Portugal and Morocco in September and October. Prices lead in at £799 per person cruise only. A 12-night Canary Islands and Madeira cruise departs October 19.
CMV director Chris Coates said the regional departures have been added in response to past Cruise and Maritime Services (CMS) questionnaires that showed clients wanted to cruise from a port close to home.
He said: “It is easier to cruise from the UK, even better when it is on the doorstep. Passengers can jump in the car, take a cab or public transport to the port, and join their ship without long check-ins or baggage restrictions.”
The cruiseline was launched by CMS, which has also chartered Marco Polo for the past two summers for year-round no-fly cruises from Tilbury.
