Trade partners have had the first glimpse of new Celebrity Cruises ship Celebrity Edge in Florida prior to its formal naming ceremony next week.

The 2,900-passenger vessel ship will be officially launched by UN Messenger of Peace and Nobel Laureate Malala Yousafzai on December 4.

The ship is the first of four new vessels being delivered between now and 2022 including the second in the Edge-class, Celebrity Apex, which will be unveiled and be based in Southampton in spring 2020.

The first cantilevered venue on the ocean, the ‘Magic Carpet’ moves 14 decks up and down the exterior of the ship, offering different experiences ranging from an exclusive restaurant to an embarkation lounge for the ship’s private luxury launches.

The ship also features an outdoor Rooftop Garden, suites with open-air plunge pools and 270 degree views and the only place to peloton bike race at sea.

The line’s UK, Ireland and Asia vice president and managing director Jo Rzymowska said: “Celebrity Edge has to be seen to be believed – there is simply no other holiday retreat at sea or on land like it.

“Taking luxury cruising to a new level, the ship has been four years in the planning, design and build. Through collaboration with world renowned designers and architects, we have re-imagined what it means to holiday at sea and can’t wait for the world to experience it.”

Accommodation has been masterminded by UK interior designer Kelly Hoppen with ‘infinite balconies’ that incorporate outside space into the room.

On board dining acorss 29 restaurants, cafes, bars and lounges includes a steakhouse, raw bar and Le Petit Chef, where dinner is brought to life through digital animation.

The ship’s inaugural season of eastern and western Caribbean cruises begins on December 9 with nine-night fly-cruise prices starting at £3,429 per person based on two sharing Infinite Balcony accommodation in April. The same cruise staying in an Edge Villa costs £24,300 per villa.
