Harry Goodman and John Hays to launch tour operation

Totally Travel chairman Harry Goodman and Hays Travel boss John Hays have teamed up to launch a tour operation selling upmarket long-haul breaks.

The company will be officially launched at the Hays Travel Independence Group conference in Sharm el-Sheikh on November 15, and the programme will go on sale in December.

The holidays will be initially distributed through Hays Travel shops, call centres and homeworkers, as well as members of the Hays Travel Independence Group.

Goodman and Hays will target the over-55s market, who have high disposable incomes and more time to spare. The tailor-made trips will be available to the US, Mexico, Cuba, the Middle East and Far East and will range from 12 to 28 days long.

The initial target is 15,000 customers in the first year, with an estimated turnover of £20 million.

Goodman will be the executive chairman of the new venture, which will be based at 1st4cruising’s Leicester offices.

He said: “Despite the recession, now is the time to secure good airline rates and cheaper beds in four- and five-star hotels.”

Totally Travel, the holding company for 1st4cruising, joined the Hays Independence Group in July.
