P&O Cruises in talks over Artemis sale

P&O Cruises is in talks with a possible buyer for Artemis, the smallest ship in its fleet.

Managing director Carol Marlow said it was not unusual to get approaches from potential buyers for its ships and there had been interest in Artemis. However, she denied the ship had been sold, as reported last week on a French website. “No deal has been done,” Marlow said.

A P&O Cruises statement said: “Artemis will operate its cruise programme as published.”

The 1,200-passenger ship originally sailed for Princess Cruises as Royal Princess and was transferred to the P&O fleet in 2005, when it was renamed Artemis and rebranded as an adult-only ship. The last published cruise is a 98-night Asian Grand Voyage, departing Southampton on January 4 2011, prompting speculation it will leave the fleet when that ends in March 2011.
