South America’s Latam Airlines Group has started its first service from Chile and Brazil to Tel Aviv in Israel.
The flights from Santiago go via Sao Paulo to Tel Aviv (pictured) three times a week, and the operation is the first and only direct link between Latin America and Israel.
Israeli passengers flying with Latam now have access to more than 120 destinations in Latin America, including Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay and Paraguay.
Rodrigo Contreras Brain, Latam Airlines’ Europe general director, said: “We are pleased to launch our first direct flight to Tel Aviv, which also marks Latam’s presence in five continents.
“Our aim is to continue expanding our routes between main European cities to develop connectivity with Latin America and improving access to the most desirable destinations in the world.”
Israel’s tourism minister Yariv Levin added: “Latam Airlines’ arrival in Israel with this new route not only increases capacity and connectivity, but is also an expression of the faith and belief in Israel’s tourism potential, as the increase in Latin American tourists to our country has proven.”
The flights are operated with a 213-seat Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
