Bales Worldwide is to replace its usual six brochures with just one Inspirational Journey Guide for 2010/11 to save paper and highlight its web offering.
The operator has adopted a ‘paper lite’ strategy after research found agents and customers prefer to use the web to research travel and view their itineraries. The move is expected to save 35 tonnes of paper.
Sales and marketing director Iain Fenton said: “We wanted to take this brave step to demonstrate how we can deliver the highest quality information online for our clients, without being weighed down by endless brochures.”
Agents can still order printed journey itineraries by phone or email. However, Fenton added: “We really hope the trade helps us to embrace this change. With an estimated 180 million brochures produced each year in the UK, we want to do our bit to cut this down.”
The Inspirational Journeys Guide includes new itineraries to Rio de Janeiro, Syria and Peru. The operator has also added online journey guides to its website.
