SUCKLING Airways has been renamed ScotAirways following an estimated £5m cash boost from private investors.
The investment came from Stagecoach chairman Brian Souter and is the culmination of talks first held with the airline last April. The livery on the fleet will be changed from the end of the month. A red tartan tail fin will replace the current colours.
Founders Roy and Merlyn Suckling keep the roles of managing director and marketing director after the investment.
Timetables will remain unchanged and include four daily flights from London City to Glasgow and Dundee, and a twice-daily service from Norwich to Edinburgh. In the long term the carrier plans to boost its Scottish network. To cope with growth it will establish a call-centre in Dundee.
This year the airline expects to carry 200,000 passengers, an increase from the 110,000 in 1998.
