G Adventures appoints Travel Counsellor to support agents

G Adventures has hired Travel Counsellor Michelle Thake as its 10th global purpose specialist to support its trade sales strategy in the UK and Ireland.

Thake will be supporting agents across the east of England and Channel Islands in her new role. She has left her role as a Travel Counsellor.

Before starting a franchise with Travel Counsellors in October 2004, she worked for a range of high street travel agencies.

Brian Young, G Adventures’ EMEA managing director, said the appointment will help the escorted touring operator increase training frequency and support for agents.

“Our GPS team are the frontline support for our agent partners and we are incredibly excited to welcome Michelle, who not only has a brilliant understanding of our product, but is also incredibly engaged with our purpose,” said Young.

“Michelle’s first-hand experience working in the independent travel sector has given her a great understanding of what agents need and the tools to support the double-digit growth we have seen from independent agents over the past three years.”

Thake added: “I’ve been selling G Adventures for many years and was so impressed by the diversity of the product, but also how the experience offered travellers more than just a holiday – it was a chance to change people’s lives.

“I’m thrilled to have joined the G Adventures team and am excited to help agents understand more about the purpose behind the incredible trips on offer.”
