STARAlliance carriers have launched the first global Internet booking service of any airline grouping.
Seats on any of the members’ networks can be bought on the www.star-alliance.com site.
Tickets can be picked up at airports or delivered by courier and mail. All bookings count towards mileage in frequent-flyer schemes.
Hotel reservations and car rental can also be made through the Web site. The industry first was unveiled in Tokyo last Friday by the heads of Star Alliance airlines.
The executives also confirmed the membership of All Nippon Airways and Singapore Airlines (Travel Weekly October 11) to the group.
British Midland is expected to reveal if it is to join Star Alliance this month.
