Royal Caribbean targets families in wave campaign

Royal Caribbean International is offering cruises from £79 for children aged under 12 in a bid to get more families cruising.

The offer, part of the cruiseline’s Wave campaign, is available on selected sailings until February 28 2010.

Royal Caribbean is also offering savings of up to £400 per cabin and on-board credit of $200 per stateroom on selected sailings.

The campaign is being supported by consumer advertising on TV, in national newspapers, by direct mail and on the internet, as well as in the trade press.

The cruiseline will also be advertising in Pearl and Dean Cinemas throughout the UK for the first time between January and April 2010. The advert will be in 3D and in cinemas showing Avatar.

Royal Caribbean Cruise Line associate vice-president UK and Ireland Jo Rzymowska said the cruiseline will be looking to continue to support the trade and attract more new-to-cruise passengers throughout 2010.

She said: “We are confident our consumer and trade incentives will help drive sales during the key early peak-booking months.”

As part of its Turn of Year trade campaign, the cruiseline will be giving away 50 prizes a week highlighting the seven neighbourhoods on the new Oasis-class ships to agents who make online bookings between January and the end of February.

All agents who make automated bookings between those dates will also be entered into a competition to win a place for themselves and a guest at the 2010 inaugural celebrations for Allure of the Seas in Fort Lauderdale.
