Allbury Travel Group has ceased trading with 100 holidaymakers currently abroad and about 4,000 customers with forward bookings, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has confirmed.
The Hertfordshire-based company, which traded as Libra Holidays, Argo Holidays and JetLife, operated air package holidays and flights out of Gatwick, Manchester, Newcastle, Birmingham and Leeds Bradford airports to Greece, Cyprus, and Egypt. It sold mainly through the trade.
The CAA is making arrangements for customers abroad to complete their holidays and return to the UK and will fully refund those with forward bookings.
Allbury Travel Group was a client of credit card processing company E-Clear, which has been accused this week by Scottish finance minister John Swinney of witholding funds from failed Scottish airline and tour operator Globespan Group.
Allbury was formed two years ago when the UK arm of Libra was split from its Cypriot parent. A source said Begbies Traynor will be the administrator and the company would be put into liquidation. This is a small failure as Allbury only had £48,000 in the bank, he added.
Libra’s website is now carrying a message saying it is ‘under maintenance’.
