Abta invites nominations for directorships and regional councils

Abta members are being asked to nominates candidates for two of the association’s directorships.


The position of director for Abta prinicipals with annual turnover of more than £50 million is currently held by Hugh Morgan, Cosmos Holidays and Monarch overseas purchasing and operations director.


The position of director for Abta retailers with annual turnover of more than £20 million is currently held by Mike Greenacre, managing director of The Co-operative Travel.


Both positions can be contested and elected for only by Abta members in the two respective categories.


While both of the current directors can stand for re-election, members whose businesses fall within each of the two categories are being invited to nominate additional candidates.


Whoever wins the election will take office at the Abta annual general meeting on April 29, 2010, and will serve a two-year term.


Nominations are also being invited for vacancies on the Council of Regions with a single vacancy available in each of the following regions: Midland, North Eastern, North Western, Eastern, South Western and Greater London.


Candidates are expected to play an active business role in the relevant region and elected members will serve two years as either chairman or vice-chairman of the regions they represent.


The Council of Regions winners will also be announced on April 29.
