Two cruise passengers killed as huge wave hits ship

Two cruise passengers died when a Louis Cruise Lines ship was hit by a huge wave off the coast of France, according to reports.

The Cypriot-owned Louis Majesty, carrying nearly 2,000 people, was hit by a 26-foot wave. Another six people suffered minor injuries.

The accident happened near the port of Marseilles as the ship was sailing from Barcelona to Genoa in Italy with 1,350 passengers and 580 crew.

The victims have been identified only as a German and an Italian man.

A Louis Cruise Lines spokesman said the ship was hit by three “abnormally high” waves that broke glass windshields in the forward section.

The ship is now heading back to Barcelona.
