Queen Elizabeth boosts Cunard for 2011

Cunard has joined sister lines in the Carnival UK group, P&O Cruises and Princess Cruises, in launching its biggest ever programme of voyages for 2011/12.

The line will be operating three ships throughout the year with the arrival of Queen Elizabeth, due to be officially named at the end of 2010 ahead of maiden cruises.

To meet demand for longer port stays the new ship will offer overnight stays in popular destinations like St Petersburg, Amsterdam, Venice, New York and Quebec.

Peter Shanks, Cunard president and managing director Peter Shanks, said the brand would be emphasising its long-standing British heritage, and yet have the youngest fleet afloat.

“Three new ocean liners in just six years proves the demand for the Cunard brand from guests looking for the best in luxury cruising and the ability to experience a unique sense of heritage, history and tradition.

“With the anticipation and arrival of Queen Elizabeth, and our biggest ever offering for the UK market for many years, our growth in 2011 is assured – as it is for our valued travel agent partners.

“With three liners in the fleet we can now offer our travel agent partners a choice of all the best destinations. In 2011 we will be covering Europe, the Americas, Transatlantic, the Caribbean and with our world voyages – the world.”

Queen Elizabeth cruises will lead in at £499 and range from five night taster cruises to longer 24 night voyages, including 22 ex-Southampton voyages in its maiden season.

The ship will be sailing in the Baltic, the Norwegian Fjords, the British Isles, the Mediterranean, USA / Canada and the Caribbean.

It will operate four maiden voyages to the Baltic, Around the British Isles, the Fjords and US and Canada and make a total of 52 maiden calls in her first season.

Queen Victoria will sail 23 voyages from seven to 22 nights from just £799 per person including ex Southampton cruises to the Canaries, the Mediterranean, the Baltic and the Fjords.

There will be a series of Fly-voyages in the Mediterranean with eight voyages for 12 nights sailing out of Venice, Rome and Athens from £1,349 per person.

Winter will see it operate a 15-night Caribbean voyage from Venice to Fort Lauderdale from £1,999 per person and a 14-night Christmas voyage from Los Angeles taking in Hawaii from £2,699 per person

Queen Mary 2 will sail 21 transatlantic voyages between Southampton and New York, most of which are now seven nights in duration, from £899 per person.

In addition it will sail 11 roundtrip Southampton departures to Europe and the Caribbean from two to 29 nights from £399 per person.

It will also repeat its popular Around the British Isles voyage of eight nights from £999 per person.

The 2011, which covers up until January 2012, offers a range of early booking discounts including discounts of up to £800 per stateroom.

Other incentives include double balcony suite savings and up to $600 onboard credit per stateroom.
