Portugal gets new five-star spa
A new, five-star Portuguese destination spa is set to open in April this year. The Longevity Wellness Resort is nestled in the green hills of Monchique in the southern Algarve, and will have the country’s first medical spa, plus holistic and relaxation therapies.
Accommodation includes 195 one-bedroom apartments that can sleep up to four people. The resort is set in a protected nature reserve.
Sandals ties up with Dermalogica
Sandals Resorts International is partnering exclusively with skincare line Dermalogica, and will roll the brand’s products out in Sandals, Beaches and Royal Plantation Collection spas by summer 2011.
Seven Von Essen hotels to get spas in 2010
Von Essen is adding spas to seven of its properties this year including Callow Hall in Derbyshire, Congham Hall in Norfolk, The Greenway in Gloucestershire, Homewood Park in Bath, The Mount Somerset in Somerset and Woolley Grange in Wiltshire.
There will be a standalone spa development in the village of Lower Slaughter in the Cotswolds, with access to both Washbourne Court and Lower Slaughter Manor.
Anassa adds teen treatments
Cypriot hotel Anassa has launched a new spa programme aimed at teaching teenage boys how to take care of their skin.
The resort thinks young males are being left out of the spa experience, and offers treatments with skincare brand The Organic Pharmacy. The Teen Organic Facial is ideal for spotty Kevin-the-teenagers.
New spa at Mira Hong Kong
The Mira Hong Kong opened its spa in January. The upscale offering has nine spa suites, an infinity pool, sauna, steam, whirlpool, ‘experience’ showers and water bed lounges.
There is an oval-shaped Aura Room with soothing colours to induce restful sleep, and male and female ‘Floatation Lounges’ that house state-of-the-art heated waterbeds to relax in.
Treatments include Elemental Herbology, which combines traditional Chinese medicine and botanical remedies, as well as products from Anne Semonin.
Rockliffe Hall opens in the Northeast
Converted 19th-century manor Rockliffe Hall opened as a boutique 61-room hotel in February.
The hotel – on the borders of County Durham and North Yorkshire – has a large spa offering signature treatments using organic English skincare range Ila, plus performance-based products such as Hexapeptides, hailed as the non-invasive answer to Botox.
There are spa butlers, a hydrotherapy pool and a sleep retreat room with sound-wave therapy relaxation beds. The hotel also offers Nordic Walking and qui gong.
