Car hire firm’s collapse ‘highlights importance of Abta’

The collapse of a car hire firm has highlighted the importance of Abta membership, according to a rival that is taking on its bookings.

Affordable Car Hire boss Angela Day stressed the importance of the services the association offers, including bonding, after the collapse of Pinner-based Transhire Worldwide last week.

Transhire boss David Goodwin has recommended clients go to Affordable Car Hire for help and Day confirmed that hundreds already have with many more expected.
She added: “I was very sad when I heard the news and was honoured that David recommended us to his clients.

“We have contacted suppliers and assured that any Transhire customer can transfer their booking to us with no charges or danger of losing out.

“Agents with client bookings through Transhire should call our team to arrange it and avoid the possibility of anything going wrong with the booking.

“We decided to become Abta bonded after Harvey World Travel liquidated last year and the sad folding of Transhire is further evidence that the decision to become the only UK car hire broker to offer the  protection of Abta bonding was the right thing to do.”

Transhire has been in operation for more than 20 years and specialised in Europe, Australia and America. It was said to have collapsed following cash flow problems.
