Blackpool-based specialist educational travel company Next Generation Travel (NGT) has acquired Galina International Study Tours.
It means Chester-based Galina will be able to offer flights for the first time as part of its school trip packages.
The acquisition will increase NGT’s annual turnover to £27 million, with employee numbers reaching 100 and annual passengers topping 80,000, up from 75,000.
Established in 2010, NGT offers educational tours to people aged 10 to 21, and its brands include WST Travel, FHT Travel, Study Experiences, Sport Experiences and Remembrance Travel.
Galina focused on battlefield tours when it launched in 1989 and then expanded its portfolio to include school tours.
Deborah Beckett, NGT managing director, said: “Galina has a fantastic reputation and matches our commitment to tailor school tours to the requirements of the curriculum.
“Providing high levels of customer service and bespoke tours has fuelled our growth and it’s exciting to join forces with a company that has such an affinity with our values.”
Last month, Saga Holidays announced its managing director Maria Whiteman was leaving, to take the reins at NGT on October 1.
