Abta’s Travel Matters conference will benefit from an increased political focus while Sky News presenter Mark Longhurst will moderate the main stage business sessions.
The additional political focus will come following a partnership agreed between the association and The House Magazine, Parliament’s in-house magazine which features articles on politics and what’s going on in the House of Commons.
The edition of the magazine coinciding with the conference on June 3 will contain a supplement detailing the issues affecting the travel industry, while its editor, Richard Hall, will speak in the ‘How Do We Win Our Arguments With The Government?’ session.
Philip Eisenhart, a director of Dods, which publishes the paper, said: “The House Magazine is delighted to be partnering the Travel Matters conference. This is in recognition of the increasingly important role that the legislative and regulatory environment has on the travel industry.”
The move is also a sign of Abta’s increased recognition of the need to lobby the government on the industry’s behalf while Travel Weekly’s own Yes Minister campaign has won wide support across the industry.
The Travel Matters conference will be held at the Riverbank Park Plaza Hotel in London and will be moderated by Longhurst who has more than 30 years’ experience as a journalist and who is one of Sky News’ longest-serving presenters.
