Two East of England Tourism (EET) businesses won a gold and silver award at the Enjoy England Awards for Excellence on St George’s Day last week.
The ceremony, held at the Brighton Dome on Friday night, saw The Bildeston Crown in Suffolk win gold in the Taste of England category, beating Low Sizergh Barn Farm Shop in Kendal and Green’s Restaurant in Whitby.
In the Large Visitor Attraction category BeWILDerwood, a treehouse adventure park, was narrowly defeated by RHS Garden Wisley.
VisitEngland chief executive James Berresford, who recently told Travel Weekly travel agents should become tourist information centres, said: “The fantastic diversity and quality of tourism product across the length and breadth of England means we can confidently compete on the international stage, making this country a must-visit destination for Brits and overseas visitors.”
Dr Derek Langslow, EET businesses chairman, said: “These awards are the highest accolades that the tourism industry can win.
“We are delighted that the excellence of the region has been recognised and our warmest congratulations go to our two award winners.”
The gold and silver winners were selected from more than 100 regional winners submitted by the nine regions of England and were rated by a team of judges and independent assessors.
