Corfu trial: Cook reps may hear verdict on Monday

Thomas Cook reps Richard Carson and Nicola Gibson, on trial along with nine Greeks over the deaths of two children in a Corfu hotel in 2006, will hear their fate early next week.

The prosecution case in the trial over the deaths of Robert and Christianne Shepherd, who died after inhaling carbon monoxide from a faulty gas boiler at the Louis Corcyra Beach Hotel in Gouvia, finished on Tuesday.

The judge’s intention was to have had all 11 defendants on the stand and heard the closing arguments by today.

He could deliver his verdict and sentences as early as Monday or Tuesday. The 11 defendants are charged with negligence.
