The heads of AC Group and UKinbound are calling on fellow chief executives in travel to take part in an annual fundraising sleepout event.
Rob Russell (pictured right), co-chief executive of destination management company AC Travel Group, and Joss Croft (left), chief executive of trade association UKinbound, are taking part to raise awareness and money for the charity CEO Sleepout.
This year’s CEO Sleepout event in London is scheduled for October 14, with similar challenges happening in cities across UK.
Croft said: “People don’t want to be homeless but they often have no choice – we don’t always see the terrible human impact that homelessness can have on individuals and their families.
“CEO Sleepout is a great cause and I hope that travel industry chief executives accept the challenge, step up and support this fantastic charity and its work.”
Russell added: “As an industry that is responsible for booking so many ‘beds’ for guests it seems quite an apt charity for us to support and get the industry behind.
“We would like other industry CEOs to join us so we can try to raise as much money under a ‘travel’ banner as possible.”
He said more than 440 people died sleeping rough on the streets in 2018 and hopes the challenge will raise awareness to help combat homeless and extreme poverty.
