Operator bids to beat rivals with flights offer

PARIS Travel Service has introduced a year-round kids go free offer on British Midland flight packages to Disneyland Paris in a bid to differentiate its package from that of rival products.

The deal previously only applied to self-drive trips to the theme park.

Disneyland Paris brand manager John Bellenger said the offer has been prompted by an increase in competition.

“At one stage there was only ourselves and perhaps one other operator with dedicated programmes to Disneyland Paris. Now there are about six,” he said.

“It is a perpetual challenge to differentiate your product and we believe we have done that with this offer.”

The offer applies to children under 12. Bookings for air travel must be made by November 30 and for car by January 8.

The operator, which is targeting growth of 15% on its 75,000 carryings this year, has added four off-site hotels bringing the number in its portfolio to 18.

Bellenger said that further efforts are being made to shift more business into the low season with offers of three nights for the price of two at the theme park.

Early sales are also being pushed as operators which sell their on-site allocation first stand a better chance of receiving a “floating” number of unallocated rooms.

Coach travel to Disneyland Paris is also being promoted more aggressively with packages leading in at £164 per adult and £34 per child for a two-night break at the Hotel Santa Fe, including theme-park passes.
